Pushing Up Clock Speeds—GeForce 9800 GTX
The price and performance of graphics cards based on the G92 GPU from Nvidia has been fantastic—from its debut in the GeForce 8800 GT to the ill-named replacement for G80-based 8800 GTS cards (also called the GeForce 8800 GTS), to the SLI-on-a-stick GeForce 9800 GX2.

Radeon HD 3870 X2 Review
Well, the graphics division of AMD is about to give it another shot with the Radeon HD 3870 X2. This time they're taking the thoroughly excellent RV670 chip used in the Radeon HD 3850 and 3870 cards and doubling it up on a single, double-wide, 10.5-inch long card.

StarTech.com USB 2.0 to DVI Adapter Review
You may think an easy way to add an extra display would be to plug in an external, USB-based product. You'd technically be correct, but trust me, it's cheaper, all-around better, and actually less hassle to add another internal graphics card. At least, that's the case when you're faced with the StarTech.com USB2.0 to DVI Multi-Display Adapter.

SwiftShader 2.0 and the Future of CPU Rendering
A few weeks ago, ET Editor Loyd Case wrote about The Coming Processor War. As CPUs get faster, transistor budgets increase, and common everyday workloads don't require these exponential increases in computing power, the graphics processor may get squeezed out. Integrated graphics are terrible performers right now.

The Coming Processor War: Opening Salvo
Not long ago, I wrote about the coming processor war. I suggested that, given AMD's acquisition of ATI and Intel's apparent interest in developing discrete graphics technology, that Nvidia was potentially going to be the man in the middle, squeezed by the two processor companies. I also suggested that Nvidia was smart enough not to simply let themselves get run over by a potential steamroller.
