It is easy to see why. |

Canon EOS 550D (Rebel T2i / Kiss X4 Digital) In-depth review
The Canon EOS 550D is a difficult product to categorize. Ostensibly designed to appeal to first-time DSLR buyers and enthusiasts, it offers a lot more technology, and at a higher price, than we might expect for a camera aimed squarely at this sector. Although it might seem logical for the 550D to replace the EOS 500D, the older camera is set to continue in Canon's lineup, which leaves the 550D pinched between its entry-level (represented by the still-current EOS 1000D and the 500D) and nominally enthusiast (the EOS 50D) peers. Confusingly however, apart from build quality (which is all but identical to the EOS 500D), the 550D has more in common with the prosumer EOS 7D, and - perhaps even more confusingly - it out-specifies the EOS 50D in many areas.

It's tempting to refer to Canon's T2i as an evolutionary upgrade to its predecessor, the T1i. That is, until you review its pictures and video on your computer screen. Yes, Canon has added incremental refinements to its latest Rebel, but they add up to improved image quality and movie recording that is a notable step forward.

Canon PowerShot S90 Review
The arrival of the 'affordable' digital SLR saw most manufacturers slowly withdrawing from the high end compact camera market, but recently models like the Canon G9/G10/G11 and Panasonic's LX3 have shown that there is still demand for pocketable cameras with real photographic controls. And it is the Panasonic LX3 that Canon has in its sights with the latest in what was, for a long time, presumed to be a dead line of cameras that goes back to almost a decade. The S90 may not look much like the S80, S70 and all its earlier predecessors, but it has been conceived in much the same spirit; a smaller, more stylish alternative to the G series, offering key enthusiast features (such as raw capture and manual controls) in a compact body.

Few electronic devices are as lusted over as Leica’s cameras. Leica is one of a very small number of companies that has been able to get old-world, handmade craftsmanship and move that over to the digital age. Their eye-popping price tags entice as many people as they turn off, but the amazing shots we see people taking with Leica cameras makes it clear that even though the company attracts a discerning breed of photographer, there is definitely something special about the hardware.

In my review of the E-PL1 (as well as the E-P1) I focused on the 14-42mm as it’s versatile, lightweight, and collapsible, making it a great lens for use with the Micro Four-Thirds body. Since the release of the E-PL1 Olympus has promised Micro Four-Thirds users a wide angle, internal focus lens, specifically the 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6. It’s finally landed and I’ve had some time to test it out. |

Nikon Coolpix S4000 (pink)
Normally when there's a performance complaint about a touch-screen camera, it's about the responsiveness of the display. That's not true for the Nikon Coolpix S4000. Its touch controls respond well to both fingertips and the included stylus. Nikon makes the screen useful, too, not just relegating it to functions that would be better suited for physical buttons. The performance problems are related to the autofocus system, which is inconsistent at best, and general shooting speeds.

Samsung NX5 Hybrid DSLR Shaves Price—and Features—From NX10
However strange it seemed for Samsung to launch a new camera category with the NX10 hybrid DSLR—which puts a DSLR-sized sensor in a smaller body—they're sticking with it. Hence the NX5: a cheaper, slightly less capable NX10.

Samsung NX10
The Samsung NX10, another entry in the growing compact interchangeable-lens camera category, takes up less room in your camera bag than most DSLRs, while still featuring a 14.6 megapixel, APS-C, CMOS image sensor, 3-inch LCD, and the Samsung NX mount for interchangeable lenses.

Samsung NX10 in-depth review
Our review of the Samsung NX10. It's been just over a year since Samsung announced its NX mirrorless interchangeable lens camera system, the first to feature an APS-C sized sensor as used in the most popular DSLRs. It packs a 14.7MP sensor and 'VGA resolution' LED screen into a small, DSLR-like body that exactly resembles the mockup shown by the company back in March 2009. We've been thoroughly testing it to see whether its combination of high resolution sensor and small body is enough to win over people who would otherwise buy a DSLR or Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera.

Samsung TL500/EX1 Review
As DSLRs have become less expensive, the number of people keen to buy high-end, manually controllable compact cameras has fallen away - so long as camera size isn't an issue, the benefits of a larger sensor are hard to resist. However, because size is a concern for some people, the sector didn't die-off entirely and, in July 2008, Panasonic introduced the DMC-LX3, finally giving an alternative to Canon's well-respected G-series.

Samsung’s SMX-C20UN ultra compact digicamcorder boasts some strange ergonomics
Lately, Samsung’s been really trying to push strange, angled lenses on consumers, ostensibly because they are more comfortable. They may have a hard sell on their hands: while Samsung’s cameras are gorgeous little gizmos, the manner in which you are meant to hold them looks less comfortable, even if it’s an ergonomic delight. Samsung has some cognitive dissonance to get a handle on if they want this idea to fly with customers.
