Apple updates iPad Pro display, processor and camera, launches 10.5" model
At its WWDC 2017 developer conference, Apple has launched a new iPad Pro model with a 10.5" Retina display to replace the previous 9.7" version. While the display is approximately 20% larger the 10.5" version retains the old iPad Pro's dimensions and one pound weight. This has been achieved by reducing the display bezels by nearly 40%. The larger screen size also allows for displaying a full-size on-screen keyboard and connecting a full-size Apple Smart Keyboard.

So, with the updates to iOS 11, it seems that Apple is finally gearing up to put the "Pro' in iPad Pro. And yes, while thus far the machine was really powerful, fast, and gorgeous-looking, its issues with multitasking and the barred-off nature of iOS definitely didn't lend towards a good working experience with the tablet. Unless you are a sketch artist who only uses one or two apps, for example, the Pro felt jarring.

The Type Cover comes with buttons and keys making it more of a legitimate QWERTY keyboard for Surface users. And yes, it can double as a cover.

Text-Based Adventure Game Subsurface Circular Arrives Today on Apple iPad
Text-based games aren't as prominent as they used to be back during the early days of PC gaming. Despite being virtually extinct (at least to mainstream gaming audiences), these games do still exist today. One such title is Subsurface Circular. Created by Bithell games (the same developer and publisher behind Thomas Was Alone and Volume), Subsurface Circular was released this past August on Steam.

The A10X chip in the new iPad Pro is Apple's first 10nm processor
When it comes to processing power, the homebrew and highly optimized A-series chipsets of Apple usually wipe the floor with the competition, especially in the single-core benchmark scores. The spring season's top smartphones, however, are typically run by Qualcomm or Exynos chipsets built on a newer method than the iPhone or iPad that get announced earlier, so they enjoy a head start for a while.

The iPad mini isn't receiving any update
The writing is on the wall. The iPad mini 4 is probably going to be the last iPad mini ever. Apple just announced iPad updates during its WWDC keynote. Both the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models are receiving major updates. In the meantime, the iPad mini feels like the neglected device in the iPad lineup, and it's now probably on life support.

The iPad Pro: Now a true photographer's tool
When Apple released the first 12.9-inch iPad Pro, I wondered if it was finally an iPad that photographers could embrace without also getting an armful of tradeoffs. The answer was: almost (see "How the iPad Pro stacks up as a photographer's tool"). Although that initial model and the subsequent 9.7-inch iPad Pro improved upon earlier iPad generations in significant ways, several items still came up short.

The New iPad Pro Is Incredible, But Not Worth the Upgrade

If there's a defining quality to the iPad Pro, it's that the device seeks to go beyond the traditional touch interface of iOS to seek out additional ways of getting work done.
